I believe every person, no matter their age, deserves to have joyful, graceful, and visceral portraits that not only reflect their authentic self but also portraits that stand the test of time. As a Boston portrait photographer, I love working with teens who say they're a little camera shy and kind of awkward because that's who I was in high school (real talk: that's who I still am). The clients I serve are independent, passionate, and ambitious young adults. Just as I do, they too seek to be stewards of positivity, truth, and self-love.
My unique yet timeless photography style is a blend of light and airy, true to color, and fine art - I call it "Romantic Realism."
My business initially grew as a way to supplement my professional dance career. And while I loved being on stage, managing the challenges of making in-the-moment decisions when things didn't go to plan (the show must go on, right?), and directing my dance students how to move gracefully, something was missing. I realized that I got more fulfillment and joy out of empowering high school seniors and giving them a bomb-ass senior photography experience than I did dancing. Capturing celebrations of life's milestones while providing a fun, stress-free, full-service experience for my clients has given me a whole new purpose in life
So, after ten years, I hung up my dancing shoes and traded them in for camera equipment. But don't worry, I still kept all of my Lululemon apparel.
Did you notice the Celtic knot in my logo? Ask me about it sometime. Side note: The Cliffs of Moher hold a special place in my heart: it was where I fell in love with myself!
While it would be cool to be an elf, I'd honestly be more at home in Hobbiton. And as Elijah Wood has said time and again, Hobbiton is a real place.
I start my morning doing the New York Times' Mini Crossword, Wordle, and Spelling Bee. That said, I'm a terrible speller!
I'm as enthusiastic about my work and color-coding my notes as Leslie Knoppe. And it's true, breakfast food is the best kind of food!!
I'm perpetually in a state of wanderlust. Getting Global Entry and Clear have only made my wanderlust more severe. My goal is to go to every continent minus Antarctica...I hate the cold.
I didn't grow up with pets so Aife is the first pet I've ever owned. Loving and being loved by an animal is a gift, and I wish everyone could experience it!
I can't stand sweet wines. I much prefer a medium-bodied Cabernet Franc or Cabernet Sauvignon! Dry white wines or rosés are good too, but I usually prefer those in the summer.
There's something about the change of the season that makes me feel refreshed. There's just something extra cozy about warm days and cool nights, changing leaves, and readily available hot mulled cider.
I'm truly my happiest self when I'm exploring new places. I'm based in Boston, MA and Minneapolis, MN but my artistry is inspired by travel. If you're a high school senior, no matter the distance from my home base, let's connect!
Everyone is different - that's part of what makes us so special. I want to strive to get to know my clients for who they are. I want to know what their dreams are, what they're passionate about, and what's important to them.
Growing up with all of the challenges teens face today must be hard. I want to be a source of love, support, and encouragement for my clients so that they walk away from their session with a sense of confidence and self acceptance.
I believe communication is the foundation to providing my clients with a great experience. I can always be reached via email and will do my best to respond within 24 hours. I also believe that respectful, good communication is a two-way street.
I'm very organized, punctual (early is the new on time), and extremely detail-oriented.
I'm empathetic and bring a calming presence with me to de-stress any situation.
As a former professional dancer, I'm an expert at composition, creating angles, and implementing movement and I use those skills to pose and position you so that we take most flattering portrait of you ever!
Diversity: I support and welcome diversity in all its forms. My space is a safe-space for everyone.
Authenticity + Transparency: You are a gift and you deserve to have photographs that authentically represent you.
Communication: I communicate often with my clients. I believe communication is key to providing my clients with a great experience.
Initially, I felt anxious about my photos. I loved the natural, fun look of Lauren’s work and hoped my senior photos would be as beautiful as her other clients’ photos. As soon as my session began, my nerves went away because of Lauren's bubbly personality and constant praise. Working with her was a fun and relaxing experience!"
Working with Lauren was an eye opening experience because she is a true professional and will always make sure your pictures turn out great! She really helped me with my confidence and made the whole experience comfortable, fun, and memorable."
I did not need to worry about that with Lauren! She helped my daughter to feel relaxed and to be herself. Lauren was super helpful and responsive to our wishes and dreams. We loved working with her so much that we already know that we will be working with her for my son's senior photos next year."
I loved how easy-going Lauren made the shoot. It didn’t feel like there was any pressure and that made me so much more relaxed in front of the camera. She was intentional about how she brought out my personality in my photographs so that I felt comfortable, confident, and relaxed throughout the session."
